Allen Ranks Money's Best Places to Live
(August 2012) Allen was named among MONEY magazine’s “Best Places to Live 2012”. The city was rated at number 13 and one of only two Texas cities to break the top 25. Cities are ranked based on several factors including job growth, home affordability, safety, school quality, arts and leisure, and several ease-of-living criteria. Other factors include the fiscal strength of the local governments as well as in-person visits and interviews with residents. Allen continues to move up in the annual rankings – from No. 16 in 2010 and No. 20 in 2008.

Money magazine attributes the top ranking to popular attractions such as Allen Event Center, the over 5 million square feet of retail shopping and the new Allen High School stadium.

Top Ten Dallas Suburb

(July 2012) - D Magazine ranked over 60 suburbs in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and Allen came out in the top ten. The D Magazine ranking is based on four factors: safety, education, housing values, and ambiance. Based on those criteria, Allen was ranked as 9th in the metroplex.

Allen Ranks 9th Safest City in US for a Third Time
(December 2011) - For the third time in four years, Allen is ranked among the 10 safest cities in the United States. A City Crime Rankings study, published by CQ Press, a unit of Congressional Quarterly Inc., was based on the FBI’s 2010 statistics report.

Nationwide, Allen is ranked 9th overall (cities with a population of more than 75,000) and 8th in their population category (cities with a population between 75,000 and 99,999). In the CQ report, Allen was listed first in Texas, making it the safest city in Texas.

Allen Among Best Retirement Places
(September 2011) According to Forbes, Allen was selected in the Top 25 Best Retirement Places due to our affordable median home price, low cost of living, low crime rates and favorable tax climate.

Forbes Ranks Allen 19th Best Place to Move
(July 2009) - Forbes released it's "In Depth: America's 25 Best Places to Move" and ranked Allen as number 19. Forbes rankings compare the number of people in cities who were born out of state or abroad, who had moved there from a great distance, and who had moved based on their career. also compared population growth, family incomes, executives and professional jobs and home values.
